Artist's Comments

Well hello all and a happy new, and may I present to you the MABTI MK-1.
It is a concept boat design i have had in mind for a while, created in max (poly modelling) completely from scratch, dont ask about those exhausts at the back, i just wanted to make it look completely outrageous, and i kinda like the result i got.
Rendered using mental ray - total render time per pic (2000x1500) 10mins.
Reflections - HDRI map on raytraced material, and a few tweaks here and there, hehehehe
Lighting- Single skylight with certain qualities and options boosted up
Decals/paintwork- Uv unwrap on certain areas then all welded back together, giving each mat an ID... hope you like all, Comments/questions are always welcome..

sweet modeling, relfections and texture of the boat look great. Just those exhausts in the back that appear a bit too big. Awesome work

Cool design there! The nozles in the back are a great feature. May I sugguest an thruster control valve? (something you might see on a jet, like an F18 or the like) just a mechanical device that reduces/increases the size of the nozzle for thrust control. It could be situated inside the ports you've already built here.

I'm a sucker for realistic mechanical design though, so you may want to dissregard the idea. It looks pretty damn good as-is!

Nice modeling and detail.

The modelling is quite intriguing, I would say that it's not like anything that I've seen afloat before. I think that you've done a good job with the surfaces, the material is quite good and of course, using HDRI always helps with realism. I think the modelling is quite good but to be honest, the engines appear a bit rushed and basic, I would like to see some more details there and maybe something a little more complex. Still, they work fine as they are, I think it would be nicer to see a little more time put into them. As for the lighting rig, even though it's simple, I think it's still very effective. All in all, it's a good render to start off the new year with, nice job.

I love IT!!!!! :D you know there is a mod that thy are developing for far-cry called Hydro-racers? YOur thing would fit right in.

And I think the exhausts at the back should have more detail, like maybe something from star wars? Like they are too simple at the moment in my opinion.

10mins? What do you have in your box?!

Anyway great work all around :)
